Enrollment at Powder River Prep

We are excited that you are considering Powder River Prep for your family! Because we are a small microschool with limited enrollment, we have a simple but thoughtful admissions process to make sure PRP is the right fit for your child and family.

Step 1: Inquire
Reach out to us through our website, phone, or a referral. We’ll send you an information packet with details about our mission, values, schedule, tuition, and family involvement. There will be multiple Parent Informational Nights before enrollment – please plan to attend one of these sessions to tour the school and ask questions.

Step 2: Apply
Submit an enrollment application. This helps us get to know your family, your child’s background, and your expectations. We anticipate the enrollment deadline to be around the end of January 2026 for the 2026-2027 school year. Application fee is non-refundable $75, payable when you turn in your application.

Step 3: Interview
We’ll invite your family to an interview with our admissions team. This is a chance for us to share more about PRP and to learn more about your child, your family’s goals, and how you see yourself participating in our school community.

Step 4: Review
Our team will carefully review your application and interview. We look for:

  • Alignment with our values and educational philosophy
  • Family involvement and volunteer availability
  • Student’s learning style and fit with our program
  • Community connections, referrals and siblings
  • Flexibility and commitment to our unique schedule and approach
  • Letters of Recommendation or Referrals are also helpful

Step 5: Notification
We will notify you in writing about your child’s enrollment status — acceptance, waitlist, or non-acceptance.

Step 6: Enrollment & Onboarding
Families who are accepted will complete an enrollment agreement, tuition policy, and handbook forms. We also ask that you pay the 1st month’s tuition (non-refundable) prior to May 31st as confirmation of holding your child’s spot. We’ll also walk you through our family orientation so you’re ready for a great start!

Q: How do you define conservative values?
A: Conservative values don’t necessarily mean politics or who you voted for — it’s more about a way of life. We relate it closely to the Wyoming Code of Ethics: doing what’s right for your family, your neighbor, and your community. At Powder River Prep, we focus on raising thoughtful, productive citizens who respect and love America.

Q: How in-depth is the Christian faith component?
A: We are a non-denominational Christian school. We teach directly from the Word of the Bible, holding daily Bible study that naturally weaves into all other parts of our curriculum. Faith is the foundation that guides how we learn, serve, and grow together.

Q: What if we just want to do mornings or just afternoons?
A: Our program is designed as a full-day experience. The morning and afternoon sessions build on one another — academic learning in the morning often connects with hands-on, real-world learning in the afternoon. It would be difficult to capture the full benefit by attending only part of the day.

Q: What if we aren’t able to commit to ½ day per week of parent involvement?
A: Parent involvement is a cornerstone of our mission. We don’t have a principal, secretary, or playground staff — our parents fill these vital roles! This partnership model creates a strong, family-like community and helps foster better learning and social experiences for students.
